It’s Time to Clean Up Our Community!
Making City Services Work For Us
Far too often, we’re not getting the help we need and city services put our community on the bottom of the totem pole. City services can’t only work for the wealthy and the well-connected, they must work for all of us!
-
We’ll create the largest and most experienced constituent services team who will be able to step in to ensure city agencies are meeting our needs.
-
Tackling our litter problem by installing more public trash cans and changing the process in which the City decides where trash cans can be installed.
-
Help residents understand all of the City services they qualify for and streamline the process so that residents can have access to those services without having to do the run-around.
-
Making civic engagement more accessible to our community and returning our community to the Participatory Budgeting program.
Tackling The Opioid Crisis
Everyday - as we walk our kids to school, as we get on the train or the bus to work - we are confronted with the debilitating health crisis that has plagued our community for far too long: addiction. Together, we can take back our community and help those suffering get on a pathway towards recovery!
-
Invest further in the non-profits that already exist in our communities tackling this issue. Give them resources, the trust, and the partnership they need to do the hard work of getting people off of our streets and into their treatment facilities.
-
Close and replace methadone clinics with actual clinical treatment facilities that have a demonstrated history of putting those suffering with addiction on a pathway towards recovery.
Getting Our Students Off the Streets and Into the Classroom
Education is the number one pathway to the middle class. Yet, our students continue to get the short-end of the stick. Our community has less high school and college attainment than almost any other community in the City and we can no longer accept that!
-
Expand access to free GED and vocational training programs.
-
Fight for universal afterschool programs as well as expanding the ability of our nonprofit organizations to provide weekend programs with sports, arts, and specialized learning.
-
Further developing pathways from public education to union city jobs with or without college degrees.
